Equans UK is looking for a Business Development Representative to join our Equans Digital Business based from our London office on a hybrid working arrangement.

Role purpose

 

The Business Development Representative (BDR) will play a key role in growing our portfolio by identifying new opportunities, engaging early-stage customers and supporting the wider sales process. Reporting directly to the Business Development Manager (BMS), the BDR will work collaboratively with the Solutions, Projects and Service teams within Digital to drive early engagement and strengthen our pipeline.

This is a consultative, customer-focused role centred on understanding client needs and supporting the development of tailored solutions. Working alongside the Business Development Manager, the BDR will help nurture customer relationships, contribute to account development and support strategic growth across our target sectors.

Key activities

  • Proactively identify and engage potential customers through warm outreach, referrals, inbound enquiries, social selling and networking.
  • Conduct early discovery conversations to understand customer needs, challenges and objectives.
  • Nurture relationships with prospects to move them from initial interest to qualified opportunities through our BDM.
  • Build rapport with customers both remotely and through site visits or meetings
  • Research target sectors to identify emerging opportunities and customer pain points.
  • Support account strategies by mapping stakeholders, understanding estates portfolios and capturing intelligence on competitor activity.
  • Maintain and update account information, customer insights and pipeline data to support strategic decision-making.
  • Collaborate closely with the Solutions team to support the ongoing development and refinement of our Digital products and services, providing customer feedback, market insights and frontline observations to help shape future solutions.
  • Work with the Business Development Manager to prepare proposals, customer presentations and supporting documentation.
  • Hand over fully qualified opportunities to the BDM and provide ongoing support throughout the sales cycle when required.
  • Assist with bid input, case study preparation and solution definition

Skills, qualifications & experience

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a genuine passion for helping customers solve problems.
  • Ability to build trust and rapport quickly in both virtual and face-to-face settings.
  • Proactive, organised and able to manage multiple conversations and opportunities simultaneously.
  • Interest in technology, energy efficiency, building performance or digital transformation.
  • Full UK driving licence.
