Equans is looking for a Procurement Manager – Projects North to join our team in Manchester on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary bonus and benefits package.
The Procurement Manager plays a crucial role in our organisation by the undertaking of project works and ensuring these are conducted efficiently and cost- effectively. This role ensures that both the operational and strategic procurement needs of the Equans Sustainable FM division are met.
Whilst the role is in based in the North the remit of projects, where business needs require, could fall outside this
What will you deliver?
Delivering Professional Procurement Services:
- Provide procurement services to internal customers at all levels within the Business Unit(s).
- Ensure services meet the specific needs of the business and end customers.
Customer Engagement:
- Engage proactively and professionally with new and internal customers to understand their requirements linked to end customer commitments.
- Foster strong relationships to ensure customer satisfaction.
Supplier Management:
- Manage suppliers delivering project works specific Equans Sustainable FM.
- Source new suppliers to meet business needs, ensuring best value, fitness for purpose, risk reduction, and quality project work. Leverage on the wider Equans supply chain and ensure they are available on both Coupa and SAP
- Build and maintain excellent supplier relations with regular review meetings.
Category Management:
- Identify opportunities to deliver value by aligning with the company’s Category approach with the Central Procurement Team.
- Manage the successful delivery and transparent reporting of deliverables.
Sustainability focus:
- Is responsible for integrating sustainability criteria into procurement processes and supplier selection, and for monitoring and reporting on the sustainability performance of suppliers.
Innovation and Process Improvement:
- Drive innovation into customer offerings.
- Streamline procurement processes and procedures to enhance efficiency.
Supply Chain Deals and Strategy:
- Support supply chain deals and work with operational and central procurement teams to achieve the best supplier arrangements.
- Maximise sub-contract buying gains and implement a clear supply chain strategy at contract setup stage.
Commercial and Legal Protection:
- Understand and protect the company’s commercial and legal position in supply chain engagements.
- Clearly set out terms and proposals to safeguard the company’s interests.
Bid and Pre-Tender Input:
- Provide specialist commercial input during bid and pre-tender stages to ensure accurate net cost pricing.

Who are we looking for?
- Significant experience in procurement, particularly in project-based procurement.
- Experience managing large-scale projects and working with cross-functional teams.
- Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, supply chain management, or a related field.
- Deep understanding of procurement processes, and industry best practices.
- Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools.
- Expertise in supplier selection, negotiation, and relationship management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess project needs, evaluate supplier proposals, and manage budgets
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills to interact effectively with suppliers, stakeholders, and team members.
- Ability to identify and mitigate risks associated with procurement and supply chain disruptions.
- Good understanding of legal and ethical standards in procurement to ensure compliance and maintain integrity.
- Must have an understanding of the Facilities Management sector, including procurement through complex supply chains for project works and lifecycle.
- Ability to use own initiative as well as work effectively as part of a team.
