Gaining New Experiences
A fantastic way to learn and develop new skills is to get involved in different activities; things that may challenge you or allow you to draw on abilities or experience that you would not normally use in your day-to-day work. Here are some great ways to get involved and do something new!
Volunteering
Volunteering can make a real difference to your own life and the lives of those around you.
If you are wanting to develop your skills, volunteering could be an excellent way to do this. For example, school visits could help develop your public speaking, whereas mentoring could support your leadership and communicating skills.
We work with lots of different organisations to find the right volunteering opportunity for you!
Join Employee Led Networks
Our mission at Equans is to create a great place to work, where everyone feels comfortable to be themselves and able to achieve their potential. Ensuring that we have a diverse workforce and a culture that’s inclusive of everyone is a key priority for the business.
To help us achieve this, a number of employee networks have been created, aimed at giving our employees a voice. These are:
- Young Professionals Network
- RISE (Respecting, Inspiring and Supporting Ethnic Minorities) Network
- AccessAbility Network
- Working Parents Network
- Encompass (LGBTQ+) Network
- Women in Equans Network
These networks are open to all employees, and offer the opportunity for networking, getting involved through in-person or virtual events, networking, working on professional development and raising awareness of relevant issues.

Networking
In the UK alone, we have over 13,000 employees working together, which puts us in a unique position where we have colleagues in all areas of the country in a variety of different roles. This not only supports the success of our organisation, but also means you have the opportunity to meet lots of different people or explore diverse types of roles via networking, mentoring or even job shadowing.
By growing your network internally, this can lead to a multitude of benefits, such as:
- Building your reputation and developing your brand.
